Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Crash: Death Toll Rises to 13

The total count of fatalities from the transport jet which caught fire and went down has now reached 13, per recent reports.

Mayor's Statement

While en route to the Union’s candlelight gathering, I received word of a thirteenth victim that passed away as a consequence of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” stated the city mayor in a online message. “My heart are with the families, friends and colleagues of all who were killed in this recent tragedy. We will get through this as one.”

Casualties Identified

A release from the company identified the flight crew aboard the aircraft as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts reach out to all staff member who has been impacted and everyone in our community community – supporting you and ensuring you receive the attention and aid you need is our priority,” the company’s communication expressed.

Investigation Details

National authorities announced that the freight aircraft’s left wing burst into flames and an engine detached shortly after takeoff from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, leading to the jet to plummet and explode into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it is examining the jet’s maintenance history, that was in the state for maintenance a period prior to the incident.

Aviation information showed the aircraft was on the tarmac in the Texas city from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was located in the facility,” remarked an official on the following day, not giving a precise date range. “We will review each aspect of maintenance that was completed, including the Texas visit, right up to the day of the journey.”

Findings of Key Evidence

The cockpit voice recorder and information unit were found, and the power plant was discovered on the airfield.

The recorders – known as data containers – were built to endure crash impacts and intense fire from fires, and they appeared to be in one piece when found amid the wreckage. Authorities intend to analyzing recordings from the devices.

Jet’s last recorded information showed an elevation of 475 ft and a velocity of that speed prior to the accident.

Service History

Per Federal Aviation Administration documents dated 18 September, a crack on a part in the fuel container demanded repairs.

The company ST Engineering, which stated it provides airframe maintenance for the company’s MD-11 and operates a maintenance center in that city, chose not to speak, but stated it would work closely when investigators approached it.

Operations Continue

In the meantime, UPS Worldport activities restarted last night with its express or evening operation, spokesperson a representative confirmed. The three tarmacs at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also back in operation.

The sorting center in this location is the organization’s biggest. The facility employs over 20,000 individuals in the region, manages three hundred aircraft daily and sorts more than four hundred thousand items each hour.

Local Support

A candlelight vigil was organized on the evening of 6 November by the local Teamsters Union, which supports workers at the airfield, the firm’s primary shipping facility.

The union chapter, which represents staff, began the memorial with a period of reflection at that time, the approximate time of the accident before.

“This incident was so unexpected, so unforeseen,” the mayor spoke to the crowd of attendees. “No one had a opportunity to part to each of those who we have said farewell to.”
